The nationally renowned junior wing of the Royal High School Bath became the Royal High Prep School last week…

The school, which has been nominated twice in a row by the Times Educational Supplement for its outstanding creative curriculum, PREPares 3-11 year old girls at Cranwell House in Weston to make their mark in the school community and wider community before moving onto the Senior wing, in Lansdown.

Launch week began by exploring how parents help their daughters to prepare for school in the morning, before each year group started a themed week of activities and workshops held by inspirational visitors to the school.

Nursery and Reception prepared to ‘Make Their Mark’ as first aiders, learning how to call an ambulance, and Year 1 used the theme ‘Sailing the Seas’ to look at the lives of explorers.

Year 2 looked at saving lives with the RNLI and Year 3 learned about NASA from Royal High Sixth Former Bethan Hughes, who visited NASA with the school, last year. With so many activities, there was a much ‘kneaded’ break for Year 4 who had a visit from Clayton’s Kitchen and learned to make bread. They really ‘rose’ to the challenge and ‘proofed’ to be star bakers!

Year 5 looked into navigating the skies with a visit from an RAF pilot and Red Arrows trainer, and Year 6 prepared to make for a greener planet by learning about what they can do to combat the Plastic Problem whilst also learning about conservation and the protection of wildlife.

The Prep School are very grateful to all of those who supported the launch and in particular, the many visiting speakers who gave up their time to lead sessions. The school’s pupils are certainly more inspired than ever to make their mark within society!

The Prep and Senior School have an Open day on Thursday 2nd May; personal tours are available by contacting the school at royalhigh@rhsb.gdst.net
