VOX Pop & Soul Choir, who are now in their 14th year, consists of singers aged 8 -15 years old from Bath and the surrounding area who enjoying learning and performing pop, soul and rock hits. The group are led by Musical Director/Founder Tim King and performance coach Gabby Violante – both of whom regularly perform with Tim’s Vocal Works Gospel Choir. Over the years, VOX members have gone on to become professional singers and actors and the choir perform concerts and at events such as the Christmas Market.
Recorded by Richard Mainwaring in the amazing studio facilities at Monkton Combe School in Bath, the songs are covers of Jess Glynne’s “I’ll Be There” and Jonas Blue’s “Rise”. Tim explains his song choices and a bit more about the project….
“Rise is a very catchy new release from Jonas Blue and is all about standing up for yourself despite the hurdles that life can throw at you sometimes. I’ll Be There makes an important lyrical statement of support for someone who is struggling and can be associated with many situations. When I choose songs for the group, it is very noticeable when the children completely connect to the music and lyrics – so it was important to record songs that demonstrated their vocal talents.
Singing is so beneficial to us in many ways – from reducing stress and increasing confidence to improving breathing and making friends. Add that to the power of listening to music and how it can lift your spirits and make a positive impact on your life….for me there’s little else that can create such a boost.
I chose the local charity Dorothy House to benefit from all of the monies raised from downloads of the two songs. The staff there do so much incredible work – looking after very poorly patients with so much attention, care and love.”
