Name: Jo Rich

Personal description:

A coffee and gin-drinking craft-maniac! Mostly a mother, wife, daughter, and friend.

Where do you live and who do you live with?

Currently living in Claverton Down, with my husband, two beautiful daughters and two fluffy cats.

When did you first move to Bath and why?

I grew up about 15 miles south of Bath and then having travelled the world and lived in many other places, I got a job back here in the West Country and haven’t left!

What inspires you about Bath?

I love the feel of the city, its creativity, its life, its history (and all that it will become). I love the gorgeous bath stone buildings, especially in the sunshine and the fact you can do everything and anything without having to travel too far.

You need coffee, where do you go?

If I’ve time to sit for a bit, then Green Bird Café on Margaret Buildings, otherwise Society Café.

The babysitter’s booked, what’s your ideal night out in the city?

Pre-dinner cocktails, a leisurely dinner with friends with plenty of good food and laughter.

Where’s your favourite place to go with the family on a sunny day?

Get the bikes out, go for a cycle along the canal into town, watch the trains go by in Sydney Gardens, take a shortcut through the gardens of the Holburne Museum, then along Great Pulteney Street. Grab an ice cream and go and sit in Parade Gardens before cycling back home!

And on a rainy day?

Maybe watch a movie or go ten pin bowling. If we stayed home, we’d most likely get the craft out and make something!

You’ve got an afternoon to go shopping, where do you splash the cash?

Hmmm, I can’t remember the last time I did that!! But if I had plenty of cash to splash, I’d take in all the loveliness of Anthropologie and have a good wander around Jolly’s – you can get everything there!

Tell us a secret

I love going to the Victoria Art Gallery to see whatever is their latest exhibition. Since entry is free if you’re a Bath resident and have a Heritage Card, it’s fun to see whatever is there. You never know, you might like it! And, it’s a little bit of calm in the midst of the busy-ness of the rest of the city!
