Where are you based and what do you do?
I’m Amy from Relish, a vegan catering company & supper club based in central Bath.
What inspired you to start your business?
I got to the point where I didn’t want to live out other people’s dreams anymore and thought that I should really get a move on with starting my own business as it had been something I’d been wanting to do for years. I also saw a massive gap in the market for an accessible and welcoming way of eating great vegan food in a comfortable setting which is why I started my supper clubs and the catering side just came from doing a lot of friend’s weddings which was wonderful.
What do you love about running a business in Bath?
The community in Bath is really great. Everyone is SO supportive, nobody sees anyone else as a threat and it’s all about sharing the love, it’s what makes Bath such a wonderful place to be when you’re a young business.
You’ve got five minutes to grab a sandwich, where do you go?
Where’s your favourite place to book for a business lunch?
I’m not one for business lunches so I think it would be a great coffee and slice of banana cake from Society Cafe instead!
Which bar do you head to after a tough day?
Dark Horse for a penicillin cocktail.
Tell us about another Bath business you love and why?
It’s got to be one of my favourite people – Alice at Botanica Studios. She’s doing something really different and filled a gap in the market with her unusual and immaculate houseplants that she sells at various markets around Bath, plus she’s a truly lovely person! Follow her on Instagram!
What advice would you give to someone starting a business in the city?
I would say to use your friends to help you out as much as possible, they’re happy to do it (sometimes in exchange for cake) and everyone has different skills that will massively come in handy when you’re setting up! I’m very lucky with my group of friends that include a photographer, calligrapher & designer!
