Where are you based and what do you do?

We are the gift/homeware shop, Bluebells of Bath, based along the artisan Walcot street.

What inspired you to start your business?

Our love of fun, quirky colourful products. We’ve  always been a fan of certain brands and to be able to stock them and let other people know about them and own them is great!

What do you love about running a business in Bath?

We love being along Walcot Street among the other independent shops and there’s always something going on in the city itself. We also love stocking products from local businesses. We have lots of local artists who supply our greeting cards and lots of South West gifts.

You’ve got five minutes to grab a sandwich, where do you go?

New Body Kitchen along the top of Walcot street to get a baguette then Didi Cakes to get a yummy cupcake!

Where’s your favourite place to book for a business lunch?

The Fine Cheese Company at the bottom of Walcot street, they do amazing doorstop bread sandwiches and coffees!

Which bar do you head to after a tough day?

It’s a little out of the city but we love Bathampton Mill to sit outside near the river on a nice day. If the weather’s not so nice we enjoy meeting up with friends at the Cosy Club. If we fancy cocktails we will probably head to Sub 13.

Tell us about another Bath business you love and why?

The Roman Baths! If you go around 4pm in the winter, you miss the busy period and you get to see the main Bath whilst its dark – truly magical! Have to also mention Sotto Sotto, its well worth the wait and money as you have to book up this Italian well in advance. The staff are lovely too which is an added bonus!

What advice would you give to someone starting a business in the city?

Go for it! Do your market research beforehand and get involved with other projects along the way (such as this!). Social media is also key to get yourself out there. Across the city there is a lot of support and buzz around independents so you couldn’t choose a better place to set up! So many business’ and people we talk to are more then happy to offer support and help out with anything so there is a great community spirit in Bath!
