Business name: Roz Collins Photography

Your name: Roz Collins

Where are you based and what do you do?

I live on the Camden Road in Bath and I am a photographer.

What inspired you to start your business?

My grandparents gave me my first camera when I was 10 – it was a Boots Instamatic and I took it everywhere and spent all my pocket money on film and getting my photos printed. But it took me until my second baby to take the plunge and follow my dream of capturing beautiful images of people, places and things.

What do you love about running a business in Bath?

I love this city. It is an environmental portrait photographers dream – all the amazing Georgian architecture and beautiful Bath stone, offering fantastic and varied backdrops and wonderful textures and colours. I also love that it is only minutes to great countryside and also the canal, which offer diverse & amazing locations for my work.

You’ve got five minutes to grab a sandwich, where do you go?

I’d grab a takeaway sandwich from The Fine Cheese but am more likley to grab a good coffee and am spoilt for choice in Bath. My fave is The Columbian Coffee Company, or Colonna and Smalls for coffee with the best ‘pain au chocolat’ in the UK!

Where’s your favourite place to book for a business lunch or a meal/drink after a tough day?

Definitely Corkage on Queens Square or The Beckford Bottle Shop for a drink and possibly a cheeky cheeseboard!

Tell us about another Bath business you love and why?

Graham & Green – so many lovely quirky things and their stock is always changing and run by lovely people.

What advice would you give to someone starting a business in the city?

Go for it and get yourself out there, talk to as many people as you can about what you’re doing – Bath is a great place to live and work.
