Royal High Prep School in Bath is preparing to welcome girls and their families to their Open Morning on Wednesday 20 November which will give visitors the opportunity to explore the 11 acre site at Cranwell House, talk to staff and pupils at the school and meet Claire Lilley the new Head.

Claire joined the Prep School from Sidcot Junior School, in Winscombe, North Somerset and brings with her a wealth of expertise in Early Years and Primary education. As Claire explains, “Girls at this important stage of their educational journey need to feel safe and secure, have fires of imagination ignited and a thirst for knowledge created. Our beautiful learning environment and inspiring skills based, ‘Cranwell Curriculum’ certainly achieves this. It is a holistic approach to teaching and learning and develops every aspect of the child, helping them to blossom into well educated, well rounded individuals, girls who have confidence, self-belief and a firm moral compass.”

The Royal High Prep’s learning environment centres around a stunning historic building which is light, airy and spacious. The breath taking views and expansive grounds, really enrich the learning potential for every girl. Claire adds, “We have an extensive outdoor learning programme which benefits all the girls from Nursery to Year 6. I’m not sure there are many schools where a Celtic hut, outdoor kiln, pond dipping opportunities and even a badger set are within a hop, skip and a jump of the classrooms!”

Situated in historic Cranwell House and grounds, the former home of the Mayor of Bath in the 1800s, the Prep School is the first stage of the girls’ journey at Royal High School Bath. Catering for girls from 3 to 18 years, the school is part of the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST), a family of schools across the UK. The girls at the Prep School have close ties with the Senior School and benefit from much of their teaching expertise and facilities – ties with the GDST mean that pupils are able to participate in amazing opportunities with other schools within the Trust for things such as sporting and music competitions, leadership and technology events.

The Open Morning will run from 10am-1pm on Wednesday 20 November and the Royal High Prep School staff and students are looking forward to welcoming those interested in Nursery, Reception and Primary education. Anyone wishing to attend the Open Morning should register here: http://bit.ly/RHSPrepNov – tours of the school can be arranged at other times by emailing: admissions@rhsb.gdst.net.
