Pregnancy Yoga

Wed May 5 @ 7:45 pm - 9:15 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 7:45pm on Wednesday, repeating indefinitely

Being pregnant is a special time yet there can be many challenges – phyiscal, mental or emotional. I hope that in my classes, you will feel able to relax and get back to the reality of things – that unique connection that only you have with your baby at this time. You will be able to let go of ‘stuff’ for a while and enjoy sharing space, chat and advice with other mothers-to-be.

What to expect
The class is a place to relax and spend time with your baby, as well as getting to know other mothers in your local area. You will learn how to safely stretch and strengthen your body to keep it healthy and fit during pregnancy and with an eye on labour. We also look at breath techniques and positions for labour. Each class starts with herbal tea and a brief catch up on our week and ends with a relaxation followed by a healthy (sometimes not so much!) homemade snack.

Occasionally I invite a therapist or professional to the class to share with us their knowledge and answer any questions, such as massage therapists, reflexologists, bowen therapists, doulas, NCT and LLL representatives, Home Birth and water birth experts and chiropracters. You can find a list of various health practitioners in Bath here. And once you’ve had your baby, I invite you to come back to share your birth story.

What to bring
You need to come in comfortable clothes, with warm things for relaxation. You needn’t bring a mat unless you have one that you would prefer to bring. I provide bolsters, blankets and blocks, so some people like to bring their own cushion (and their own blanket especially in winter if you like a really warm one!). It’s best if you haven’t had a large meal just before coming, but don’t be hungry – either have your dinner earlier, or ensure you have had a little something to keep you going till you get home.

Using a birth ball
Every couple of months, I do a special session where we look at how to use a birth ball in labour. I will give you lots of notice when that class is coming up and will ask you to try to bring a ball with you for that class if you can get your hands on one (although I have ones to borrow and we can share).

Booking onto a class
If you decide you’d like to come along, you can start coming to class once you are at least 15 weeks pregnant – and you can start at any point in your pregnancy, although the sooner the better. You can come right up until your due date – and beyond if your baby isn’t ready to make an appearance!

Where and when are the classes?
I run two Pregnancy Yoga classes each week:

Wednesday 7:45-9:15pm Hedley Hall, Denmark Road, Oldfield Park
Thursday 6:15-7:45pm Weston Methodist Church, Newbrigde Road (top of Chelsea Road, next to Cadence bike shop)

Can’t make a class?
Please note that if you can’t make your regular class, you can come along to the other class instead. Some people choose to do more than one a week too if you like!

If you have any questions at all between now and when you are due to come to the class, please do call, I would be happy to help in any way.

How do I pay for classes?
You can pay for classes in cash, cheque or PayPal and can pay before or after the class.
One off class price £13 (suitable if you’re near your due date)
Mini Class Pass £44 (4 classes valid for 5 weeks)
Super Class Pass £88 (8 classes valid for 10 weeks)
