This approximately 1 hour and a half hour session will focus on Brush Lettering. You need not have any experience of lettering before! This expressive, fun and dynamic lettering technique is influenced by the shape of the brush and a great skill you can use in so many applications: making your own greeting cards, invitations, gift tags and gift wrap, place cards, art prints, signs…
You will be introduced to different brush pens as well as the key basics of typography, then explore how to draw different letterforms for uppercase, lowercase, numbers and punctuation using alphabet guides.
Once you’re comfortable with the individual letters, we’ll move onto letter connections and how to best form words in a style that is appropriate to the look and feel you’re going for.
Near the end of the workshop, we’ll be looking at how to create full compositions that play with layout, contrast and detailing to create a piece of brush lettering artwork that is distinctive and unique to you. Please bring with you a favourite quote/phrase or details for an event you would like to advertise.
This workshop runs with a maximum number of 7 students. The cost includes materials, any pens that you have enjoyed using will be available to purchase. Refreshments are included.
Please note that places on our workshops are non-refundable but are transferrable to a friend. We will post a voucher (as pictured) to you when you purchase so you can give as a gift or buy the place for yourself.
