Recreation for all in the heart of Bath
BathRec has been used by the people of Bath, the surrounding area and visitors alike for over a hundred years. A wide range of sport has been played on the grounds including croquet, tennis, football, cricket, lacrosse, volleyball and rugby – it has been the home of Bath Rugby since 1865.
In addition to sport BathRec has been the venue for numerous events including music and arts as well as the Bath Rotary Fireworks which celebrated their 40th year in 2015. BathRec is the base for the Bath Half Marathon, a major fund raising event in the heart of the city, and a number of other community events.
BathRec is available for hire for a range of sports and activities and the Trustees have prepared a Strategic Development Plan to further enhance the opportunities for all – if you or your organisation would like to explore the potential we would love to hear from you.
BathRec is owned and operated by the Bath Recreation Limited. The Charitable Company’s objects are:
The provision, with or without charge, of property in or near Bath (including but not limited to Bath Recreation Ground) for use as indoor and outdoor recreational facilities for the benefit of the public.

A celebration of the BathIRON balustrade, Parade Gardens.
Sunday 26th May 2019 – 6pm til late
Join us in Parade Gardens for a fresh line-up of talented local FOLK bands, to celebrate the installation of the BathIRON bandstand balustrade – a beautiful sculptural piece which was hand-forged by teams of blacksmiths from all over the UK during BathIRON Festival in June 2018.
We’ve handpicked some of the best local folk bands from Bath, Frome, the Mendips and Bristol – with something for absolutely everyone so bring the whole family! There’ll be a bar and food stalls, and we’ll also be celebrating the traditional heritage craft of the artist blacksmith with live forging demonstrations throughout the evening.
The FireFOLK line up will feature Sinnober, The Drystones, Nathanial Mann, The Striking Clock and The Railway Sleepers: with everything from atmospheric folk-swing harmonies, foot-stomping jazz funk to roof-raising, barn-storming gypsy punk – we promise it will be an absolute blast for the whole family. Don’t miss it!
For more information about the BathIRON balustrade project and the Bath-based charity The National Heritage Ironwork Group who made it happen, or to sponsor a piece of the balustrade and dedicate it to someone special – go to the FireFOLK link below
