Business name: Natural Balance Therapies

Your name: Becky Galpin

Where are you based and what do you do? I am based in a small and picturesque village, just outside of Bath, called Carlingcott.

I am a complementary Therapist, which means that I offer treatments such as Reflexology and Hot Stone Massage to clients to improve both physical and mental well-being. I am also trained in pregnancy treatments, which are very lovely for both the mum-to-be and baby.

What inspired you to start your business? In a past life I was a Secondary School English Teacher, I struggled with the pressure and workload. As a way to manage this I had various complementary therapies and I found they helped my well-being enormously. Before long I was retraining and opening my own business from home. I love being a complementary therapist!

What do you love about running a business in Bath? The people and the place. The people are so supportive of local and independent businesses, which is amazing. And, who wouldn’t want to live here? It beautiful!

You’ve got five minutes to grab a sandwich, where do you go? The Thoughtful Bakery is where I head for a lunch on the run, it is so yummy and healthy………Unless I get distracted by the cake.

Where’s your favourite place to book for a business lunch or a meal/drink after a tough day? The Adventure Cafe – it has been in Bath forever! It does yummy food, the staff are great and its really relaxed. You can get lunch and coffee or a great cocktail.

Tell us about another Bath business you love and why? There is an amazing candlemaker called Hazel and Blue Candles – they smell divine! Check out her amazing scents and classes at www.hazelandbluecandles.co.uk

Becky has just left her full time job to make these awesome candles, she is rocking it.

What advice would you give to someone starting a business in the city? Don’t give up and be patient, it takes time to grow a business. Network with all of the other great independent businesses in the area, it is an amazing support network.
