Let’s meet the gorgeous girls from Make Social and find out what floats their boats in our gorgeous Bath….
Where are you based and what do you do?
I’m Melissa one half of Make Social and I am based just outside Bath and Carly the other half is based in Basingstoke, but we cover the whole country, that’s the beauty of our business. We specialise in Social Media training, strategy and ads. We work with businesses to develop a comprehensive Social Media strategy and give them the skills they need to put that strategy into practice. We also offer Social Media Management so if you don’t have time to manage your platforms we can do it for you!
What inspired you to start your business?
We met in 2017 when we both did the Digital Mums Social Media Management course. We instantly became friends and we just clicked! After both working alone for a while we realised we were leaning on each other for business support so we decided to come together and Make Social was born! We love all things Social and we love having a business that we can work around our families. We are passionate about what we do and we love helping businesses realise the true potential of Social Media.
What do you love about running a business in Bath?
What’s not to love, it’s such a beautiful city! We are so lucky! I have had the pleasure of working in Bath for the last 15 years and I can honestly say I wouldn’t want to work anywhere else. There is so much opportunity in the city, everyone is so welcoming and even on a grey rainy day the buildings still look golden!
You’ve got five minutes to grab a sandwich, where do you go?
I have had to think long and hard about this one, but it has to be The Whole Bagel, I’m a Chicken Caesar kind of gal! They are the best.
Where’s your favourite place to book for a business lunch?
We love The Glove Factory Studios in Holt, it’s such an inspiring place, full of creative people, great lunches and great coffee.
Which bar do you head to after a tough day?
Tell us about another Bath business you love and why?
We love the Trouble Lounge Girls Sarah and Katy! Over the last few years they have put on some amazing events, it was just what Bath needed!
What advice would you give to someone starting a business in the city?
Engage, engage, engage, get yourself out there as much as you can both online and off! Don’t be scared to go out of your comfort zone, feel the fear and do it anyway!
