Eeeeek mega excited here at Kids of Bath as the ball gets rolling with opening the Moorland Road Library… after a series of set backs the library is nearly ready to open….

Moorland Road library is due to write a new chapter as a community-owned and requires volunteers to help run it.

Trustees are inviting the public to get involved in the running of the library and call on all those interested to come along to the Open Day on Saturday 1st June.

Running from 10am–12noon, the Open Day will be a chance for local residents to come down to the library and speak to trustees about how they can help in its day-to-day running or contribute behind the scenes.

Chair of trustees, Liz Hearn has said, ‘Our library is at the heart of our community, run for and by local residents. We need local people to come and lend a hand to keep it open’.

Fellow Trustee, Alice Boden says, ‘Without local people, this library will close for good. Even if you can only help for a few hours a week, we would love to hear from you’.

The library was previously run by Bath and North East Somerset Council, but will be handed over to the newly formed charitable trust from Friday 23 May 2019. From which date it will be entirely run by volunteers. The library will re-open after a refit on 2 July 2019.

The open day is on Saturday 1st June from 10am–12noon at the library on Moorland Road. To find out more, contact Vic Johnson at moorlandroadcommunitylibrary@gmail.com.
